As part of Tate Liverpool’s Tate Exchange programme, Bethany Williams was invited to be in conversation with Andrew Ibi, Program leader of: BA Fashion: Design & Communication, and MA Fashion Innovation & Realisation at Liverpool School of Art & Design, to talk through her AW19 collection ‘Adelaide House’ and her connection to Liverpool.
The collection is named after a women’s shelter in Liverpool, who we worked in collaboration with for the AW19 collection. Adelaide House is one of only five such facilities in the country, providing a safe place for women leaving prison or dealing with issues such as domestic violence and homelessness.
Bethany showcased the collection as part of a temporary exhibition at Tate Liverpool, to sit alongside the ‘in conversation with’ event, in which she shared techniques used in the creation of the collection, and an insight into the fabric developed from waste product donated by Liverpool’s The Echo newspaper.
