I Found Myself Amongst the Stones
Oil on paper, 2025
210 × 297 mm

This painting was made as part of the series developed for The Journey to This Wild Achingly Beautiful Place at Ortus.

The painting was made on the Isle of Man, inspired by the Plains of Heaven at the Braaid, overlooking Greeba Mountain. I drew there outdoors before returning indoors to finish the painting.

The setting sun marks a quiet shift towards return. There is a stillness within the landscape that feels like a pause. A moment where time slows and there is space to breathe, reflect and simply be.

Amongst these ancient stones, I felt a sense of connection to the landscape and to myself. The painting became a reflection of that feeling: of finding stillness in a familiar place and, in doing so, finding a part of myself again.

20% of the proceeds will be donated to Bethlem Gallery. These artworks were developed in collaboration with the gallery for The Journey to This Wild Achingly Beautiful Place.
