As part of Tate Britain’s Late at the Tate series, Bethany was invited to be involved a panel discussion for the February 2020’s Late, Tate Britain: From Tomorrow. The Late was in response to Steve McQueen’s installation Year 3. It drew inspiration from science fiction and speculative design, presenting imagined futures through performances, workshops and talks.
Bethany spoke as part of the Futures in Reality discussion – which touched on topics such as the real-world uses of future thinking, Afrofuturism and societal change. The panel included: Anab Jain, Director of Superflux, Kibwe Tavares, Film-maker, and Bethany Williams, fashion designer. It was chaired by Tate Collective Producer and Curator Christine Lai.
